It’s the home grown gala featuring the funniest of the Fringe in full flight. You never know who you might see live on stage or at the bar and we will never tell, until we are there. Lost in Translation
Your favourite movies translated badly.
Each night, we take a different classic film script, run it through an online translator a dozen times, and then read the results live on stage in character!
The final twist is that the guest stars read the scripts on stage for the first time.
To get the most enjoyment, we recommend you watch the film beforehand.

Abby Howells – The Cave
Welcome to The Cave.
What is The Cave? Well, you’ll have to come to find out.
Does Abby know what The Cave is? Oh yeah, don’t worry about that.
The Cave is funny (hopefully hahahah)
The Cave is nice, I reckon come on in.
The Cave is presented by Abby Howells. Abby is best known for coming last on season five of Taskmaster NZ, but she gave it a really good go. She won NZ comedy’s prestigious Billy T Award in 2023 and can also be seen on Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee, 7 Days and Conan O’Brien Must Go.
“Gem of a show” ★★★★★ The Age

Ting Lim: You Pho Real?
The poster looks like Chinese propaganda, the title’s a Vietnamese pun, and I’m Chinese. None of it makes sense — and that’s kind of the point. You Pho Real is a bowl of contradictions left to simmer too long — a mix of “good intentions” that, when combined, look suspiciously like a manifesto.
It’s about juggling identities, expectations, and experiences that don’t fit. Ever had a doctor call you out for having a fat neck? Or lose weight because your dog’s fat? Exactly. Make it make sense.
It’s confusion served hot, garnished with trauma, and topped with a slice of “Is this for real?” It’s funny until it’s not — then it’s even funnier. A series of jokes that make as much sense as the poster.
Welcome to the contradiction buffet.

Vida Slayman – Vagina: The Visitor’s Guide
time we’ve got a map.
‘Vagina: The Visitor’s Guide’ is based on the premise that even those of us who own vaginas know so little about them that we may as well be renting. (Pop quiz: Do you know when the clitoris was first mapped by anatomists? The 1950s? Or even the 80s? It was in 2005!)
‘Vagina: The Visitor’s Guide’ is a funny fact-based guided tour through the history and science of the vagina. Well, not the vagina, but the vulva – which is the whole thing, not just the hole thing. For owners of vaginas, visitors to vaginas, and anyone who is vagina-adjacent.
